Week 5- Dev Log

This week, in preparation for the Alpha Demo, our team has been working quickly to put together the alpha build by incorporating the level prototypes and assets that we have ready for implementation. We had a meeting on the 24th to address the alpha demo release next week. Some other things that were addressed in this meeting were plans to revise the prototype and issues discovered while playing testing the level prototype.

Accomplishments:

  • Exterior Level Prototype
  • Textures for various assets (e.g interior walls)
  • Tutorial/Dialogue storyboard for the first 2 tutorial levels
  • Kill zone
  • Various audio/musically samples for the game

In Progress:

  • Music + SFX
  • Health UI
  • Setting up a tutorial
  • Textures for the exterior level castle assets
  • Fine tuning of the camera and mechanics

Issues:

  • When rotating orientation of the levels, stationary platforms look weird to the camera (found a temporary fix, but still being worked on)
  • Hiding walls from the camera (still being worked on)
    • currently have the camera move toward the player when going up against the wall as a temporary measure
  • Player will clip through the map if they rotate the level too far from the central origin of said level (being looked at)
  • Due to the nature of our game, motion sickness is a big problem that needs to be addressed

Next Steps:

  • Revising first interior level
  • Player orientation indicator
  • Planning of level 2
