Week 9 - Dev Log

This week there was an in-person playtest. The two pieces of feedback that stuck out to us from the playtest was the players lack of level visibility and differentiating stationary platforms from non-stationary platforms. It was suggested to us to have a free fly camera so the player can view more of the level, so we decided to utilise the fairy character we had as a way for the player to fly around and view the level. This also falls in line with our theme of different perspectives, so now we’re working on prototyping this feature. For differentiating the types of platforms we have, we thought about using vfx and textures to make sure the player knows that these platforms are different.

Accomplishment:

  • Refined music
  • All exterior level textures
  • Controller controls

In Progress:

  • Free fly cam prototype
  • Dialogue UI
  • Polishing exterior level
  • Additional misc assets
  • Additional misc audio

We’ve also decided to remove the health system as it’s no longer necessary for what we currently have, since our plans for level design have changed.
