Week 2 - Dev Log

This week we had two meetings, a general group meeting to discuss the design document and presentation as well as the core mechanics of the game. Our second meeting was held for the art-design team to discuss work distribution and asset timeline. 

Accomplishments:

  • Player character model V1
  • Perspective & Level shifting
  • Short & long jump
  • Tutorial & Level 1 mockup
  • Sample music for title screen/tutorial level
  • Player movement
  • Health UI design

Diagrams of level progression and game flow chart were completed in preparation for the design document & presentation.

In Progress:

  • Cube V.2
  • Player walk animation
  • Fairy model + Flying animation
  • Grass, tree, rock assets
  • Respawn/Health/Checkpoint System

Issues:

The main issue we’re having right now is making walls hide from the camera if the player is behind them. It’s possible to hide the wall however the code is causing conflicting issues with the movement script. The issue is currently being looked at however there’s currently no known solution

Next Steps:

  • Level 2  & Final level design
  • Respawn system
  • Castle asset
  • Lord model
  • Player character textures
  • UI

The next week will be focused on fixing the issue of the camera and object fade as well as implementing a block out of the first level to test the level design and mechanics in a controlled environment, as well as having the player character in Unity with some animations.
